The completion of a large rail noise mapping project such as Inland Rail, often becomes an exercise in data management and GIS; to be able to analyse the massive volumes of data and manipulate it to deliver a robust model, extract the results and provide the desired outcomes.
SLR’s dedicated Spatial Team employs Geographical Information System (GIS) to leverage location intelligence by visually representing data for our clients. This enables our clients to make better informed decisions, enhance internal and stakeholder communication and manage resources and assets more efficiently.
This approach ensures that our noise model and noise model outputs, including contours predicted noise levels, noise barrier locations and receptors triggering the investigation, can all be directly imported in to the clients GIS database for the Inland Rail project.
