Empire Mine prefeasibility study
- Client Name
- Konnex Resources
- Location
- Idaho, USA
Challenge
The client, Konnex Resources, required a technically sound and economically viable pathway to move the Empire Mine toward development through a prefeasibility study. This included identifying an optimal processing approach, defining design criteria, and establishing a reliable basis for both technical performance and financial investment. The project also needed to balance economic outcomes with environmental considerations while meeting reporting requirements.
Solution
Our team provided integrated engineering, process development, and technical evaluation services to support the prefeasibility study. Early in the study, we identified a more cost-effective and environmentally favorable processing approach and incorporated it into the project design.
We combined process engineering with multidisciplinary plant and infrastructure design, drawing on expertise in mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering. Our team developed process flowsheets, equipment designs, and site layouts, and conducted trade-off studies to optimize recovery and overall project economics. These efforts were supported by detailed CAPEX and OPEX modeling and aligned with NI 43-101 reporting requirements.
Impact
This work established a strong technical and financial foundation for the Empire Mine project, enabling informed decision-making and supporting its progression toward development. By identifying a more economical and environmentally responsible processing option, the study improved project viability while aligning with environmental considerations.
