Nicole Acevedo, PhD

Biography

Nicole Acevedo is an environmental health scientist with more than 20 years of experience in human and environmental health and over a decade of experience helping manufacturers, retailers, and consumer brands develop safer, more sustainable products. Her expertise includes chemical management, sustainable chemistry, material health, ingredient transparency, product stewardship, regulatory strategy, supply chain engagement, and safer alternatives assessment. Nicole works with organizations to navigate evolving regulatory requirements, consumer expectations, and scientific developments while reducing risk and advancing sustainable product innovation.

Throughout her career, Nicole has developed and implemented comprehensive chemical management strategies, product transparency initiatives, and material health programs that support responsible product development and informed decision-making across complex supply chains. She has advised organizations on ingredient safety, sustainability strategy, product certifications, and supplier engagement programs, helping clients translate complex scientific and regulatory information into practical business solutions. Her experience spans consumer products, personal care, retail, and manufacturing sectors, with a focus on integrating human health considerations into sustainability and product stewardship programs.

Nicole holds a Ph.D. in Molecular and Integrative Physiology from the University of Michigan, a Master of Science in Reproductive Physiology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She is an Authorized GreenScreen® Practitioner and serves on the boards of organizations focused on advancing safer chemical alternatives and environmental health.
