Run by SLR, the Responsible Media Forum (RMF) is a partnership between 23 leading global media companies to identify and take action on the social and environmental challenges facing the sector.

2025 Materiality Report

The 2025 Materiality Report aims to summarise the sustainability topics which may be materially important to the media industry, based on research that the Responsible Media Forum (RMF) conducted in 2025 and inspired by Double Materiality Assessments (DMAs). It builds upon the five materiality reports published by the RMF since 2005 and is the culmination of a year’s worth of research, engagement with 21+ media companies, and with seven media-related organisations.

We hope that this report is a useful tool for anyone who is considering or conducting materiality assessments, developing their sustainability strategy, drafting sustainability disclosures, or any combination of the above.

The report covers an introduction to DMAs and the project; an overview of the findings (and the previous findings from the 2022 report); and a deep dive into the sub-topics deemed material (and the Impacts, Risks and/or Opportunities that drove them).
