Biography
Meryem Lakhssassi is Sustainable Finance Lead for North Africa at SLR, based in Casablanca, Morocco. Since joining SLR in 2021, she has played a key role in establishing and growing the firm’s presence in Morocco, supporting clients, investors and development finance institutions across North and Sub-Saharan Africa.
With over 16 years of experience in environmental, social and governance (ESG) and sustainable finance, Meryem specialises in environmental and social due diligence, impact assessment, lender compliance and ESG risk management. She has advised clients across a broad range of sectors, including renewable energy, infrastructure, transport, industry and financial services.
Prior to joining SLR, Meryem held senior ESG management positions with major renewable energy developers and financing platforms, including Masen and Neo Themis, where she supported large-scale solar and hydropower projects. Earlier in her career, she worked within KPMG France’s Sustainable Development and Climate Change practice, providing sustainability reporting, assurance and ESG advisory services.
Meryem holds a Master’s degree in Urban Systems Engineering from UTC France and is fluent in Arabic, French, English and Spanish.
