Webinar | ISO 14001:2026: How to Comply with the New Climate and Nature Requirements
The ISO 14001:2026 transition is underway. Is your organization ready for the new climate and nature requirements?
On April 15, 2026, the International Organization for Standardization released the revised ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems standard, launching a three-year transition period for organizations currently certified to ISO 14001:2015. After April 2029, certificates issued to the 2015 version of the standard will no longer be valid.
The 2026 standard continues the evolution of an internationally recognized environmental management framework that was first introduced 30 years ago, in 1996. This 2026 version of the standard introduces heightened expectations around the dual sustainability imperatives of climate change and loss of biodiversity. These topics are not new to the ISO standard, but have historically been poorly or incompletely addressed. Under the revised standard, organizations will need to demonstrate significantly more maturity and sophistication around the topics of climate change and loss of biodiversity – evidencing a more strategic, risk-based approach to environmental management while strengthening oversight of suppliers, contractors, and outsourced activities.
Join SLR experts Kate Vincent, James Hartshorn, and Anthony Carr for a practical discussion on what these new requirements mean for your organization and how to begin planning your transition. Drawing on our experience in climate, nature, and environmental management system auditing, we'll explore the key changes in ISO 14001:2026, potential implementation challenges, and practical steps organizations can take now to prepare for the evolving certification requirements.
In this webinar, you'll learn:
- How ISO 14001:2026 strengthens requirements related to climate change, loss of biodiversity, ecosystem services, and natural resource consumption
- What the revised standard expects organizations to consider when assessing risks, opportunities, and organizational context through the lens of these sustainability imperatives
- How climate-related issues can be integrated into an Environmental Management System, including climate risk, resilience, and greenhouse gas considerations
- How nature-related impacts, dependencies, and biodiversity considerations can be incorporated into EMS planning and decision-making
- What the new requirements mean in practice for certified organizations and those pursuing certification
- A practical approach to assessing readiness, identifying gaps, and developing a transition roadmap before the 2029 deadline
This session is designed for environmental, sustainability, EHS, operations, and risk management professionals working across manufacturing, industrial, and resource sectors, particularly those preparing for the ISO 14001:2026 transition or looking to advance their environmental management practices.
