Challenge

Our team worked with Zuellig Pharma on their first Sustainability Report in 2020. As the company continued on their sustainability journey, they were looking to build on this momentum to establish industry leadership and deepen engagement with stakeholders.

Unprecedented disruptions caused by the COVID 19 pandemic highlighted the importance of ensuring the security and continuity of supply chains, more so in the domain of healthcare so that essential medicines and vaccines can reach those who need it most. At the same time, Zuellig Pharma’s purpose of making healthcare more accessible remains a priority in Asia amidst the pandemic driven economic crisis.

It was important for Zuellig Pharma to accelerate their sustainability agenda and set concrete targets and actions to fulfil their commitments. It was equally crucial that Zuellig Pharma continues to disclose their sustainability progress and efforts in a credible and transparent manner to communicate to stakeholders.

Solution

Our team conducted a desktop review of emerging trends affecting Zuellig Pharma’s material sustainability topics, to update our understanding of the material factors facing the business and assess if any topic has changed in importance or impact.

A gap analysis was conducted to identify areas of improvement in management practices and reporting. Recommendations were developed to streamline the list of key performance indicators and targets that would be most meaningful to measure and report on the management and performance of material topics. Our team updated the data collection tool to gather data and information to include in the sustainability report, in accordance with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards.

Impact

Our team was able to provide a sustainability report that effectively communicates with Zuellig Pharma’s stakeholders in a clear, concise and engaging way, to help implement targets and actions to fulfil their sustainability commitments.
