Oonooie BioDunder Fertiliser Facility Environmental Support

Challenge

Wilmar Sugar, Bioethanol and AgServices are a manufacturer of raw and refined sugar products, a leader in renewable energy, biofuel and sustainable agricultural products, and a distributor of oleochemicals and other specialty products.

Wimar has required environmental consultancy services support for their Oonooie Fertiliser Facility to assist with their facility management and investigation of sustainability for ongoing wastewater irrigation.

Solution

To expand on existing quality assurance sampling work completed by our team each crush season, SLR was engaged to update the Wastewater Release Area Monitoring Program, of the Wilmar Bioethanol Irrigation Management Plan. In conjunction to this, our team also undertook a site visit and soil analysis to evaluate current compliance with the existing Irrigation Management Plan and relevant guidelines, to determine environmental sustainability of current practices and provide further recommendations to assist operational objectives while minimising the risks of environmental harm.

Impact

Our team was able to provide updates to management plans including environmental monitoring, provide operational recommendations and an overview of current compliance status to their relevant Environmental Management System; as well as provide briefs for potential further works including a gap analysis to ISO14001 Accreditation for Environmental Management Systems.
