Biography

Richard has been working in the environment sector since 1994, after completing an MSc in Environmental Pollution Control Management at Heriot Watt University. His early career was leading environmental management and implementing ISO14001 in the whisky industry, including securing the first ISO14001 certification for a whisky distillery.

Richard then moved in environmental consulting, where he instilled technical excellence in environmental impact assessment teams overseeing complex multi-disciplinary projects. Over the years his focus shifted to leading and developing best practice throughout the energy infrastructure project lifecycle where he ensured that energy projects were delivered on time, on budget, with buildable consents and appropriate design solutions which meet financial, technical requirements and stakeholder requirements.

Richard is the European Energy Business Sector Leader and supports our clients that are starting on their energy transition journey, to secure a lower carbon economy across Europe. Richard provides leadership and guidance across onshore renewables, energy transmission & distribution, CCUS, Hydrogen, offshore renewables, marine/tidal energy, and energy clusters, to ensure projects are sustainable in delivering a lower carbon alternative, and he drives innovative project delivery solutions including digital, adding social value and benefits to wider communities.
