Biography

John is a Chartered Landscape Architect with over 20 years professional experience gained from an exciting and diverse range of UK and international projects, taking a lead role in developing landscape proposals from concept stage through detailed design and implementation.

John joined OPEN - now part of SLR - in 2020. Previously John was Associate Director at PRP and an Associate at the internationally acclaimed practices of Grant Associates and Kim Wilkie Associates.

John’s experience covers working in both the private and public sectors with projects spanning from strategic masterplanning and the production of detailed construction packages across the residential, education, commercial and healthcare sectors to the restoration of historic landscapes.

Since joining OPEN John has been involved in a variety of projects with experience encompassing large scale mixed use and residential developments on complex sites such as White City Living & Westmont – the creation of a new neighbourhood in west London; Glass Water Locks – a new canal side neighbourhood on the Digbeth Branch Canal in Birmingham; Redbank Masterplan – incorporating the first phase of a new City River Park and neighbourhood in northeast Manchester; The 1840 St George's Gardens, a Grade II listed building and former hospital and the restoration of Bramshill Park, a Grade I registered Jacobean landscape.

As a landscape architect John enjoys the collaborative design process with Architects and Artists and has a particular interest in the intricate relationship between people and the land, exploring how one can respond through design to enhance their interrelationship.
