Ben Palmer

Biography

As a Director at OPEN - now part of SLR, Ben is responsible for projects that draw on his skills as a Chartered Landscape Architect, ranging from broad urban strategies through to ensuring the highest attention to detail of built projects. Ben is driven by the delivery of places that engage people and change the way they move through and experience external environments.

Ben has led many of OPEN’s public realm and landscape projects, ensuring a creative and robust approach from concept through to delivery. This includes complex urban environments, places for people to live and work, spaces for programmed and passive activity and projects focussed on promoting sustainable and active movement. Ben is experienced in working on projects with significant heritage contexts including Ebrington Square, Quartermile and St James Quarter. He enjoys working with both private and public sector clients, most recently with The City of Edinburgh Council on their City Centre Transformation Strategy and Meadows to George Street projects. Ben enjoys effective collaboration and is experienced in both leading projects, and bringing his specialisms to wider project teams.
