SLR/Fortuitous Partners and the Tidewater project is featured in the winter edition of the Design Develop Construct (DDC) Journal, a premier journal for Building and Real Estate Professionals. In an article with Fortuitous’ Director of Development and Managing Partner, Dan Kroeber, SLR’s role as the primary consultant in the revitalisation effort is reinforced. Built Environment Sector Lead John Milone and Project Manager Darin Overton continue to lead the SLR team through the next phases of the development including applying key services with civil engineering, traffic planning, and landscape architecture as the project continues to make its way to delivering the first United Soccer League (USL) site to Rhode Island.

The idea of redeveloping 25 acres of under-utilised waterfront in hopes of bringing the USL to Rhode Island was initiated by Fortuitous Partners, who cater to state-of-the-art recreational site development. Looking to partner with a team that would help develop a site that would revitalise the land as well as the community was an exciting opportunity for SLR to engage in as a primary consultant. The $284 million project will not only house the first ever USL site in Rhode Island but will also incorporate infrastructure and public use enhancements including 4,000 feet of riverwalk, a pedestrian bridge, streetscape improvements as well as developing a seasonal space to host events including live concerts and volleyball.

“It’s certainly been a challenging project to design and permit while recognising all the site constraints.” commented Darin Overton, Principal Civil Engineer. “A key element of the work included coordinating the site remediation by the owner as well as a major infrastructure improvement project through the property being implemented by the Narragansett Bay Commission. Our team has risen to the challenge alongside Fortuitous Partners with the initial work underway to bring this vision to reality.”
