We’re delighted to share the news that SLR has acquired Corporate Citizenship, a specialist ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Advisory business. Corporate Citizenship provides ESG strategy, reporting, social and environmental impact and other sustainability consulting services to multi-national companies, and has operations in the UK, Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific.

Across the globe, Citizens, Governments, Regulators, Investors and Corporations are taking ambitious action to respond to sustainability challenges. This is creating an unprecedented demand for strategic advisory, reporting, analytics and technical services in the ESG space.

Corporate Citizenship is one of the largest and longest-standing specialist consulting firms focusing exclusively on Sustainability and ESG. Corporate Citizenship also convenes and manages the B4SI (Business for Societal Impact) Network, offering corporates a standard framework, resources and support for measuring, benchmarking, and reporting their social impact in a consistent way. The combination of SLR and Corporate Citizenship creates a market leading practice in ESG advisory, reporting and technical skills.

Neil Penhall, SLR’s Chief Executive said “I am delighted to welcome the Corporate Citizenship team into SLR. Given the very significant and rapid shift underway on ESG and sustainability issues, we see a significant opportunity for SLR and Corporate Citizenship to come together to not only support organisations with strategic advice but also, very importantly, implement improvement and change that drives real benefits and value.”

Chris Mulligan, SLR’s Chief Strategy Officer added “The combined business brings together market leading strategic and technical capability and will support our clients to understand, manage and improve ESG performance. This is a significant move in our plans in the ESG consulting services market. We look forward to working with the Corporate Citizenship team on the next stage of growth.”

Esther Toth, Global Managing Director at Corporate Citizenship commented: “Over the last ten years ESG has become a strategic business discipline that drives value creation over the short, medium and long-term. Companies that proactively think and act on ESG risks and opportunities are already outperforming their peers. Together with SLR, we share a common objective to help clients integrate ESG into business strategy and operations across the entire value chain. I am extremely proud of the global business and team that Corporate Citizenship has built over the past two decades. As part of SLR, we have an exciting opportunity to grow faster, expand our scope, and provide solutions that deliver measurable, positive social and environmental impact.”

Abby Davidson, North America Head at Corporate Citizenship added: “The moment is now to accelerate progress toward a future where society and the planet thrive. Here in North America, expectations for companies to deliver on ESG have never been higher. Together with SLR, we can scale our capacity to bring market leading strategic ESG advisory and implementation capabilities to our clients across the US and Canada. We look forward to advancing our work with clients to manage ESG risks and create value through innovative products and services, driving the transition to a more equitable, livable future.”
