Part 1 Amendment Processes for the Proposed Beaufort West and Trakas Wind Farms and associated infrastructure within the Prince Albert Municipality- Western Cape Province

Globeleq Africa Limited and Trakas Wind (Pty) Ltd intend to undertake Part 1 Environmental Authorisation (EA) Amendment application processes for the authorised 140 MW Beaufort West and Trakas Wind Farms and their associated infrastructure (the Projects). The proposed amendments relate to the extension of the validity periods of the respective EAs.

The respective EAs were issued by the DFFE on 13 February 2017. The authorised validity periods for construction of the facilities and associated electrical infrastructure are set to expire on 13 February 2027. The proposed Part 1 Amendments therefore seek to extend the validity periods for commencement of construction by an additional ten (10) years.

This application process is being undertaken in accordance with Regulation 29 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations, 2014 (GN R 982 of 2014), as amended, promulgated under the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998), as amended (NEMA).

Status

Notice is hereby given, in terms of the EIA Regulations, 2014 promulgated under NEMA that the Amendment process documents prepared for the above-mentioned project has been made available for a 30-day public review and comment period from 17 July 2026 to 19 August 2026.

Should you and/or your organisation wish to provide comment on any aspect of the amendment process, comments should be submitted to SLR no later than 19 August 2026.

SLR will use reasonable, appropriate security safeguards to protect Personal Information, and to reasonably prevent any damage to, loss of, or unauthorised access or disclosure of Personal Information, other than as required for ESIA processes or as required by any Law or public policy. You may request for your Personal Information to be deleted from the I&AP database at any time by contacting SLR.
