ESG Bites: Supplier Engagement 101 – Accelerating decarbonisation through the value chain

This webinar took place in July 2023, you can watch the full recording below:

As companies are increasingly seeking opportunities to address their indirect environmental impacts, we will share a 6-step approach to create a roadmap of engagement which will help achieve supplier-related environmental targets. Developing a credible environmental strategy increasingly requires companies to go beyond addressing their own direct impacts and take responsibility for their broader value chain. For most companies, their supply chain will represent a major part of these indirect impacts: for example, supply chain GHG emissions are estimated by CDP to be 11.4 times higher than a company’s direct operational emissions.
In this webinar, we will outline our 6-step approach to developing a supplier engagement strategy that will align with a company’s business goals and support the achievement of supply chain-related environmental targets, from increased data gathering through to performance management. While the overall process may be applied to different environmental impact areas, we will provide a worked example of how this can apply in practice to address supply chain GHG emissions, and support broader corporate scope 3 reduction targets focused on suppliers.
