Biography
Nicky has over 25 years' experience in responsible finance spanning both consulting and in-house leadership roles and has recently joined SLR to lead the Sustainable Finance practice across EMEA. Prior experience includes senior positions at ERM (leaving the firm at Partner level, where she was responsible for Power Sector in Africa) and PwC (Director responsible for ESG in Private Equity), as well as at British International Investment (BII), the UK’s Development Finance Institution, where she most recently served as Director and Head of ESG.
Nicky’s first degree (BEng) is in Chemical Process Engineering from the University of Sheffield, and she holds a Masters Degree in Integrated Pollution Control (MSc) from Middlesex University, London.
Nicky has extensive experience in both undertaking and directing Environmental & Social Due Diligence (ESDDs) on behalf of clients. Nicky also has experience in directing and managing multiple Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs)across emerging markets, applying IFC Performance Standards and similar frameworks from other DFIs & MDBs.
Her experience spans projects in numerous sectors and geographies including private equity, venture capital, renewable energy, real estate, telecoms, infrastructure, ports, thermal power, oil & gas, transport, healthcare, logistics, telecoms, manufacturing in developed and emerging markets including Egypt, Nigeria, Ghana, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Russia, India, Bangladesh, Philippines, Vietnam, Malawi, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Liberia, Botswana, Zambia, Gambia, Mexico, and Colombia.
Nicky is a native English speaker, fluent in Spanish, basic French and beginner Arabic.
