James Burchell

Biography

James is an Associate Consultant in the Acoustics Team at SLR with over 14 years’ experience. His responsibilities include carrying out monitoring surveys and preparing noise impact assessments for a wide range of developments, including minerals, waste, energy from waste, mixed-use, and residential schemes.

James has extensive experience in undertaking robust environmental noise, dust, and vibration monitoring and assessments across construction, residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. He is also experienced in undertaking measurements used to assess building acoustics and applying acoustic camera technology to identify and visualise problematic noise sources.

In addition, James specialises in Noise at Work assessments, supporting clients in meeting the requirements of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005. His expertise includes workplace noise assessments, personal noise exposure monitoring (dosimetry), noise mapping and zoning, and the design of practical mitigation measures. He also provides advice on hearing protection and helps clients identify and manage noise risks, even in environments not typically considered noisy
