SLR’s George Nash co-edits Archaeologies of Rock Art

A new book co-edited by SLR archaeologist and write Associate Professor George Nash, has been released and is selling well.

Published by international academic publisher Routledge, the positively received book titled Archaeologies of Rock Art, compiles a range of academic papers from regions across South America that have a rock art tradition dating back to the prehistoric era, between 10,000-30,000 years ago.

Along with two co-editors, George began the book project back in 2016 following several successful expeditions to the remote areas of the Chilean Andes & North-Eastern Brazil, where evidence of early human colonisation has been found. Upon return, George teamed with colleagues in Brazil and Portugal to scientifically date and analyse samples of pigment from the rock art paintings.

George has been a Principal Archaeologist at SLR Consulting’s Shrewsbury office for 12 years and teaches part-time at the University Institute of Tomar in Central Portugal, where the idea for Archaeologies of Rock Art was first considered.
