A culinary journey in Africa – the SLR Cookbook

Straying from our day jobs, we wanted to share a side-project the SLR team in Africa embraced recently – the SLR Cookbook.

Soon after the pandemic hit, South Africa and Namibia were sent into some of the most stringent lockdowns seen globally. People were confined to their homes for several months, and even going for a walk was forbidden in South Africa.

As SLR staff worked from home during this time, a group was formed on Microsoft Teams to stay connected. Here we were able to share what we were up to during those weeks of confinement. Many people embraced cooking and baking – trying various recipes and learning new skills.

From this the idea sprung to create a cookbook; this took us on a journey, bringing together our different cultures, highlighting our diversity, yet sharing our “One-Team” spirit in pulling this project together. The cookbook showcases the skills of our staff in their profession at SLR as well as at home in the kitchen.

We would like to share the outcome of “A culinary journey in Africa” with you. Enjoy.
