Africatalyst and SLR are pleased to share the publication of Powering the Transition: Capital Strategies for Africa’s Green Minerals, a new report co-authored by Africatalyst experts and SLR’s Energy Advisory team.
Authored by: Jean Philibert Ramaroson, Samiratou Kora Chabi, and Penda Ndiaye (AfriCatalyst) | Maria-Yassin Jah and Scott Taylor (SLR).
The report explores Africa’s critical role in the global energy transition through green minerals, highlighting financing gaps, investment barriers, and capital concentration across the value chain. The study identifies priority innovative financing instruments and pathways to scale investment, drawing on analysis of why existing financing instruments, governance frameworks, and ESG frameworks concentrate capital in a narrow segment of the value chain.
SLR’s involvement in this report reflects our expertise in critical minerals and sustainable project development, as well as our experience supporting clients across complex energy and resource value chains globally. As a sustainability consultancy, we understand the need to prioritise the transition to green energy while embedding environmental responsibility and human rights, supporting the delivery of resilient and financeable projects from discovery to delivery.
This report is intended to encourage discussion and invite feedback from across the sector.
