Replacement of Bridges

SLR provided construction administration and inspection services for the replacement of two bridges in Griswold, Connecticut. The existing single span concrete/ stone masonry bridges were replaced with single span precast concrete deck bridges. Work includes temporary cofferdam installation, excavation of the roadway and embankments, temporary relocation of overhead wires in the construction area, removal of existing stone masonry abutments and arch structure, removal of existing concrete abutments and deck units, installation of steel H-piles, installation of cast-in-place abutments and wingwalls to complete the substructure, installation of precast deck units and cast-in-place approach slabs, concrete placement of parapets, and bridge rail installation. Roadway work includes roadway base installation, paving, railing installation, embankment formation and site restoration.
