Dr. Pouyan Abbasi

Biography

Based in our Perth office, Pouyan Abbasimaedeh is a Principal Consultant specialising in mine waste and dam engineering. He provides technical leadership across the planning, design, review and life-cycle management of tailings storage facilities and water dams, supporting clients to achieve safe, practical and risk-informed outcomes. His expertise spans detailed design of TSFs and associated geostructures, dam safety reviews, ground engineering design, independent technical reviews, due diligence assessments, regulatory compliance, dam breach modelling, and closure planning in line with ANCOLD guidelines and the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM).

Pouyan has delivered projects across Australia and internationally, supporting mining, infrastructure, energy and water sector clients through all stages of project development. He brings specialist expertise in geotechnical earthquake engineering, liquefaction assessment, seismic analysis, advanced numerical modelling, dam breach analysis, and risk management, drawing on experience across tailings, water dams, ports and marine structures, renewable energy developments, tunnels, and major infrastructure projects.
