Kuduskop Wind Farm - DEVELOPMENT OF A 132 KV OVERHEAD POWERLINE (OHPL) IN THE NORTHERN CAPE PROVINCE OF SOUTH AFRICA

12 June 2026 | Client: Kuduskop Wind Farm (Pty) Ltd

Kuduskop Wind Farm (Pty) Ltd (Kuduskop) (a special purpose vehicle under G7 Renewable Energies) intends to apply for Environmental Authorisation for the proposed Kuduskop 132kV Overhead Powerline (OHPL), 33/132kV substations and associated infrastructure located within the Karoo Hoogland Local Municipality, within the Namakwa District Municipality of the Northern Cape, South Africa.

The project specifications relevant to this assessment are summarised as follows:

  • A 132 kV Single and/or Double Circuit Powerline, up to 31.5 km in length.
  • Mono pole and/or steel lattice tower structures, up to a maximum height of 45 m (dependent on outcome of final detailed designs);
  • It is anticipated that towers will be located on average 200 m to 250 m apart; however, longer spans may be needed due to terrain and watercourse crossings
  • Two 33/132kV substations, up to 4 ha each (Kuduskop North WEF onsite substation and Kuduskop onsite substation);
  • Eskom portion of OHPL: Powerline Servitude 31 m wide (15.5 m each side) with Right of Way Servitude up to 14m wide. Total servitude area width is up to 45 m (31 m + 14 m);
  • IPP portion of OHPL: Powerline Servitude 30 m wide (15 m each side).
  • A 400 m wide corridor for assessment and approval; and
  • New servitude road (farm track where possible) to follow beneath the 132 kV OHPL routing, deviating where necessary within the 400m corridor due to terrain and watercourses. Existing roads will be used, where feasible. Road width (inclusive of verges/berms) is expected to range from 3-9m in width, depending on topographical constraints.
