Mandatory climate reporting in Australia: what Group 2 companies need to know for ASRS readiness
Is your organisation ready for mandatory climate reporting in 2026?
With Australia’s new sustainability reporting now underway, the countdown has begun for Group 2 reporters. What may feel like a future compliance task is fast becoming a near-term business priority.
From 1 January 2025, the first reporting year for mandatory climate reporting in Australia began for large corporations under the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS).
From 1 July 2026, these same requirements will kick in for the second group of reporters. This group includes companies with >250 employees, >$500m in assets or >$200m in annual revenue. It also captures any NGERs reporting entities that weren’t already caught in group 1.
