Biography

Elizabeth McCarthy is a Staff Climate Resilience Consultant with a background in Environmental Studies and Economics. She has gained experience working on the research team of a project funded by the European Commission to explore potential environmental solutions to benefit individual and community health while also performing cost-benefit analysis on the data. She has used software including QGIS and RStudio to analyse spatial data and develop mapping materials. While attending Boston College, Elizabeth acted as a peer mentor for first-year students and also served as a member of EcoPledge, a student-led organisation working to make the university campus more sustainable and environmentally friendly. In addition, she wrote a research paper for the Environmental Studies department detailing the collection of water samples in urban parks in the Greater Boston Area and exploring the connection of water quality assessments on the local ecosystem and community health
