Jim Heather

Biography

Jim has worked with soils throughout his 30 year career in diverse roles and technical disciplines within industry, contracting and consultancy.

Jim undertakes a Project Director role as well as delivering environmental and engineering services to a range of projects in the UK and internationally across all sectors. He currently leads SLR’s Soil Science team delivery across the European region.His role focussed on the team delivering a high-quality service, delivering value for clients and if possible, adding value to their projects within what are invariably tight commercial and programme constraints.His long career has overlaps with multiple different environmental and engineering disciplines, leading to an excellent understanding of where the characterisation, assessment and protection or use of soils fits into the overall wants and needs of the project.

Jim’s wide range of experience encompasses soils surveys, site investigation, Environmental Impact Assessment, contamination remediation, waste management, landfill engineering, Construction Quality Assurance, environmental due diligence, environmental permitting, contaminant fate and transport modelling, geotechnical engineering and human health toxicological modelling.
