Spectrum - Proposed Speculative 2D Seismic Survey off the West Coast of South Africa
Spectrum has applied to the Petroleum Agency South Africa (PASA) for a Reconnaissance Permit in order to undertake a multi-client speculative 2D seismic survey in the Orange Basin off the West Coast of South Africa. The proposed survey area stretches from the Namibian Border to point approximately 200 km southwest of Cape Point in water depths of between 100 m to beyond 4 500 m. Spectrum has appointed SLR to undertake the required Environmental Management Plan process and related public participation process.
A Draft Environmental Management Plan (EMP) has been compiled and distributed for a 30-day review and comment period from 04 August to 06 September 2021. The full version of the EMP is available for download below. For comments to be included in the Final EMP to be submitted to PASA for consideration they must reach SLR by not later than 06 September 2021. Instructions on how to comment are included in the Executive Summary and Chapter 1 of the EMP.
