Used Lubricant Oil Recycling Facility at the Saldanha Bay IDZ

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) issued a Waste Management License (WML) for a Used Lubricant Oil Recycling Facility to be developed and operated at the Saldanha Bay IDZ on 28 January 2020.  Following the issuing of the WML, the operator of the proposed facility, Green Oil and Lubricants (GOAL) applied for an Atmospheric Emissions License (AEL) for the operation of the proposed facility.  SLR was appointed to complete the AEL application process in line with the assessments undertaken as part of the original Scoping and EIA process for the WML application.

Status

On 30 April 2021, DFFE issued a Provisional AEL to the applicant.  An appeal against the decision may be lodged with the Minister in terms of the National Appeal Regulations, 2014 within 20 days from the date of the license (i.e. by 21 May 2021).  Appeals must be directed to:
