The southern Connecticut shorelines

Regional Framework for Coastal Resilience in Southern Connecticut

Location

Connecticut, USA

A first-of-its-kind planning and design process: The Regional Framework for Coastal Resilience utilised Hurricane Sandy appropriations to advance resilience concepts and designs across ten shoreline municipalities from Fairfield to Madison, Connecticut. The project included a planning phase focused on the challenge of re-casting grey and "hard" coastal resilience projects into green infrastructure, living shoreline and hybrid grey/green projects; and a design phase that resulted in the conceptual design of one resilience project per town.
