SLR expands into Europe with newly formed Energy & Emissions Excellence team

SLR is excited to announce the launch of our new Energy & Emissions Excellence team, strategically based across Europe. We welcome leading experts Ben Moens, Stéphane Rapoport, Philippe de Schoutheete, Thomas Doering, Vincenzo Giordano, Tobias Kueter, Joseph Sarvary, Clément Barbaux, Benjamin Joseph, Valentin Parys, Just Remmelts, Wouter Marijne, and Axel Thiolliere from our Belgium, Germany and UK offices.

This expansion strengthens our presence in the region and enhances our ability to deliver integrated decarbonisation and energy optimisation services tailored to the energy, commercial, and industrial sectors. With a strong track record working with multinational organisations headquartered across Europe, Middle East and Africa, and global coordination experience on over 250+ projects in the past decade, the team specialises in balancing outcomes on emission reduction, energy, and economics to maximise business value across clients’ operations and supply chains.

Their expertise expands SLR’s existing Advisory services including Corporate Sustainability, Energy, Mining, and Sustainable Finance, as well as process engineering support. Together with the existing decarbonisation teams in Latin America and the UK, SLR assists clients end-to-end from strategy and planning right through to on-the-ground implementation and transformation, covering solutions related to energy efficiency & storage, electrification, renewable energy production & sourcing (electrons & molecules), low-carbon fleet, and carbon sinks.

Stéphane Rapoport, Head of Energy & Emissions Excellence EMEA

Stéphane brings 20 years of experience in energy transition from ENGIE Group. He combines strong technical and business expertise in energy and carbon reduction challenges to guide industries from pathway definition to the execution of decarbonisation projects, including the development of tools for optimising on-site green energy generation and sourcing. Stéphane also has extensive experience in the food & beverage and consumer goods sectors, as well as in the pharmaceutical and pulp & paper industries.

Ben Moens, Head of Energy & Emissions Excellence EMEA

Ben has 23 years’ experience as an advisor and implementation service provider, working with leadership teams on strategy & transformation topics. Before SLR he has worked at ENGIE Impact, Monitor Deloitte and Bain & Company. Over the last 10+ years Ben increasingly worked on energy transition topics across several sectors. His primary focus is on decarbonization strategies, low carbon product & market strategies, decarbonization investment & action plans, regulations, and transformation & implementation programs. Ben focuses on the hard-to-abate sectors.

Vincenzo Giordano, Technical Director

Vincenzo specialises in shaping and execution of decarbonisation programmes that reconcile sustainability and business requirements. He focuses particularly on the food & beverage and consumer goods sectors and has 20 years of experience in the energy sector with a rich background spanning project implementation from Technip, policy and regulation at the European Commission and strategy from ENGIE Impact.

Philippe de Schoutheete, Technical Director

Philippe advises on business models, risks, and financial performance of decarbonisation projects. With previous experience at ENGIE Impact and Tractebel, he brings expertise on the design of financial and contractual structures for large-scale implementation programmes. Philippe also works with financial partners to develop innovative and tailored financing solutions for sustainability projects.

Thomas Doering, Technical Director

Thomas brings over a decade of experience at the nexus of energy technology, economics, and policy. He has successfully led complex decarbonisation and energy optimisation initiatives across the industrial, public, and energy sectors - spanning projects in steel, automotive, pharmaceuticals, and urban energy systems. Recognised with awards for innovation and market intelligence, Thomas combines strategic foresight with deep technical expertise to deliver impactful, forward-thinking solutions.

Tobias Kueter, Technical Director

Tobias is a strategy consultant and engineer specialising in industrial decarbonisation and supply chain infrastructure across the chemicals, minerals, and paper sectors. With a strong background in strategy development, implementation, and project management at ENGIE Impact and Currenta GmbH, he brings deep expertise in decarbonising heat and power systems.

Joseph Sarvary, Associate Technical Director

Joseph is a Scope 3 and value chain expert with deep experience in carbon markets and project development, . He combines strategic advisory experience from ENGIE Impact with hands-on project expertise to deliver impactful and bankable decarbonisation projects, incorporating insetting and offsetting solutions for leading corporate clients. He holds master’s degrees in business from INSEAD and Ecology from Miami University.

Clément Barbaux, Senior Manager

Clément has expertise across most industry sectors including food & beverages, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and automotive, supporting industrials on their decarbonisation journey from end to end. He focuses on on-site decarbonisation solutions and on developing programmes to decarbonise large and complex organisations.
