Following recent SLR articles regarding publication of the updated food, drink and milk sectors BREF and the BAT Conclusions in December 2019, which has triggered an environmental permit review for the Food and Drink sector by the UK environmental regulators, the food and drink sector and dairy and milk processing sector technical guidance notes were formally withdrawn by the Environment Agency on the 6th May 2020.

Applications for new Environmental Permits and for permit variations by food, drink and milk industries must now refer to the updated BREF and associated BAT Conclusions for technical guidance and best available techniques, demonstrating compliance with the BREF requirements.

SLR has extensive experience of preparing applications for new Environmental Permits and permit variations, and a proven track record of working with Food and Drink sector clients. Our team includes ex-regulators and numerous technical disciplines that can assist with the preparation of such applications, such as Air Quality, Noise and Land Quality.
