John McCorkle joins advisory group for Washington cleanup rule
SLR Principal John McCorkle recently accepted an invitation from the Washington State Department of Ecology to participate in a 22-person Cleanup Rule Stakeholder & Tribal Advisory Group (STAG) which is responsible for providing stakeholder input and recommendations to the agency on proposed changes to the state's rules and regulations around contaminated site cleanups.
"I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to participate on the advisory team and leverage the full strength of this diverse group. I look forward to connecting with my clients and other stakeholders to provide an avenue to communicate their concerns and needs to the agency at this critical time,” said John. “The Cleanup Rule in Washington State has not been substantially updated since 2001, so this will be a unique opportunity to provide technical feedback and creative solutions to the agency as they undertake this effort.”
John will also be representing NAIOP, a commercial real-estate association, enabling its membership to have up-to-date information about proposed changes and providing an opportunity for its voice to be heard. The state rule-making process began in 2018 and is expected to continue in phases until 2023. The first meeting of the group occurred on September 25.
