Meet SLR’s Professionals:

Michael Joyce, PE | Principal Transportation Engineer

Mike offers over two decades of design, permitting, and project management expertise across a wide spectrum of SLR’s practice areas in Connecticut and the regional offices. His approach to satisfying roadway, traffic, drainage, rights-of-way, and other requirements related to transportation infrastructure projects is driven by his desire to help find solutions while effectively leveraging his experience with municipal planning and engineering and specialized institutional and private site development. Mike is closely involved with all of SLR’s roadway, traffic, transit, bikeway, and other multi-modal transportation projects, which receive state and federal funding including all MAP-21 funding programs.

Mark Arigoni, PLA | U.S. Manager of Landscape Architecture

Mark has 25 years of experience and is influenced by a lifelong interest in art, design, and construction that led him to pursue a career as a Landscape Architect. Prior to becoming the firms Manager of Landscape Architecture, he started and managed the Springfield, Massachusetts regional office for ten years.   Mark is responsible for the oversight of project development and design that includes the oftentimes complex permit application process for various public and private projects across the U.S.  SLR’s Landscape Architectural group is well versed in the design of greenways, streetscapes, passive and active parks, environmental restorations, upland and waterfront recreational facilities, competitive athletic facilities, urban redevelopment and revitalization's, renewable energy, and commercial site development projects. Mark also serves as the Chairperson of the Board of Landscape Architects in Connecticut and is a Director-at-Large and the Board Liaison to the Exam Committee for the Council of Landscape Architecture Registration Boards (CLARB).  He has been published in several magazines, including the June 2017 issue of Civil Engineering magazine with his article, "Green Guardian," co-authored by colleague Jim MacBroom, PE, about the National recognized and award-winning Meriden Green project.

Kwesi Brown, PE, PTOE | U.S. Manager of Transportation Engineering

Mr. Brown manages the U.S. Transportation Engineering group within SLR. He has almost 20 years of experience in the transportation engineering industry, and has managed several of the company’s high-profile transportation projects. His expertise ranges from highway design, traffic signal and communication systems, traffic impact and safety studies, access management, corridor planning, interchange and ramp studies, transit and multimodal transportation planning and design. He has worked extensively with federal, regional, state, local and private sector clients, and is highly experienced in the use of several industry programs and software.

Bill Van Duzer | Senior Transportation Engineer

Bill is a Senior Transportation Engineer with a wide range of transportation engineering experience on projects throughout the Northeast, including roadway and intersection design, traffic analysis and improvements, and traffic signal layout and systems coordination in addition to providing construction administration and inspection. He has performed data collection, analysis, and evaluation for the preparation of reports and assisted in the development of contract documents. Bill is an adept team leader applying well over a decade of technical expertise to complex design problems.
