Specialist archaeology and heritage input for proposed development project

Client Name
Miller Developments Limited
Location
Edinburgh, UK
Greendykes and South Queensferry

Challenge

Miller Developments Limited were looking to submit sites for consideration as part of the Call for Ideas for the West Lothian Local Development Plan 2. Having delivered a similar project for the client in East Renfrewshire, SLR were comissioned to complete two feasibility studies within a tight deadline, four weeks from commission to submission.

This was a valuable opportunity to demonstrate the contribution that SLR can make to their submission and to showcase our flexibility in delivering high-quality work within a constrained timeframe.

Solution

  • Archaeology and heritage feasibility reports were delivered to support the client's Call for Ideas submissions;
  • Key constraints from a heritage perspective were identified;
  • Contributions to design discussions included highlighting critical issues and proposed appropriate mitigations;
  • Support for other project teams was provided through collaboration with planning and landscape and visual impact assessment (LVIA) specialists, ensuring that heritage considerations are effectively integrated into the overall presentation package.
