Biography
Andy has developed a career in commercial archaeology over the last 22 years, primarily working across East Anglia, the South-East and East Midlands. Focussing on artefact analysis and the post-excavation reporting of projects, Andy has successfully delivered projects within various sectors, including mineral extraction, residential development and infrastructure schemes.
The foundation of Andy’s skill set has been as a specialist in prehistoric and Roman pottery, developing to include lithics and building materials, before expanding to write, edit and manage the development of archaeological reports, from technical reports to comply with varying stages of the planning process, to articles and books for academic publications, and shorter pieces for popular publication.
Andy managers a team of archaeological artefact specialists and writers, undertaking analysis arising from SLR projects ranging from trial-trench evaluation to multi-phase open area excavation, and accepts commissions for finds analysis from external organisations, including other archaeological contracting units and organisations. Andy also undertakes and manages various programs of outreach, including to schools, local societies and for public communities. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists, and the Study Group for Roman Pottery.
