CGG - Speculative 3D Seismic Survey off the Southeast Coast of South Africa
CGG Services SAS (CGG) has applied to the Petroleum Agency SA (PASA) for a Reconnaissance Permit to undertake a speculative 3D seismic survey in the Algoa, Gamtoos and Outeniqua Basins off the Southeast Coast of South Africa. The proposed survey would be up to 3 500 square kms in extent in an area of interest stretching roughly from Gqeberha to a point approximately 120 km southeast of Plettenberg Bay off the Eastern Cape province. It is anticipated that the proposed survey would take up to 5 months to complete, with the earliest possible commencement date in January 2022. SLR has been appointed to undertake the required Environmental Management Plan (EMP) process for the application.
A Draft EMP has been compiled and made available for a 30-day review and comment period from 29 October to 29 November 2021. The full document is available for download below. For comments to be included in the Final EMP to be submitted to PASA for consideration they must reach SLR by no later than 29 November 2021.
