Redevelopment of Stoneham Golf Club Practice Facility
SLR were appointed by TJ Transport Ltd to advise Stoneham Golf Club on their ambitions to improve the then dilapidated practice facility. SLR’s planning-led team gained planning permission in 2017 and again in 2019 for the improvement works and successfully secured conditional planning permissions on both occasions. The approved development ensures the longevity of the club and has enabled a wider practice facility, shallower grading, new bunding works and covered practice bays.
The covered bays will significantly improve and enhance the user enjoyment of the practice facility and cater for a wide range of different abilities from juniors to seasoned veterans. The video room for example will be used to teach younger players the finer details of the game with state-of-the-art technology which will effectively improve their all-round game from putting to driving.
Several temporary facilities including an admin office, wash down area for vehicles, staff parking and haul road were all provided as part of the planning. SLR ably assisted in the design of the practice facility which represents a miniature golf course with mown undulating contours, flat greens and holes of varying difficulty as set out on the approved detailed Masterplan. SLR have supported TJ throughout the planning and construction process and continue to be retained with the practice facility scheduled for opening by summer 2021. Moving into 2021 further plans are in the pipeline in other areas of the Golf Course and SLR will continue to provide planning advice to ensure a satisfactory outcome.
