Challenge
SLR conducted a pre-demolition level asbestos and hazardous materials survey at 288-290 Front Street, located in Chicopee, Massachusetts.
This survey was requested to identify and quantify suspected accessible asbestos-containing materials (ACMs), lead-containing paints (LCPs), and polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) materials associated with the site building.
Solution
The field activities described in the report were performed in general accordance with federal and state regulatory agency requirements as necessary to obtain information to allow for an engineering estimate for planning purposes. The assessment was performed for the planned building demolition and the redevelopment of the site.
Impact
SLR prepared an asbestos Non-Traditional Plan and specifications for inclusion in the overall bid documents for the demolition of the building. Additionally, SLR provided project oversight during the abatement of hazardous materials and building demolition activities.
