Geotechnical Risk Assessment Register for historic mine site
Location
New South Wales, Australia
The project site encompasses several operational facilities that include open-cuts, tailings storage facilities, water management infrastructure, processing plants, and historical and operational mine shafts. Mining at the colliery ceased in 2016 and SLR supported the client to develop a Detailed Mine Closure Plan and associated mine operating plan for government approval. SLR developed a detailed geohazard risk register for all site infrastructure including previously remediated sites, and then developed risk management strategies for the geohazard identified. Cost effective recommendations took into consideration the long-term effects of geotechnically significant infrastructure such as dams, dykes, retaining walls, adits and historical pits on future land use and liability.
