Deniz Whittier Senior Consultant
Deniz Whittier

Deniz Whittier is a Senior Consultant with expertise in assisting clients with addressing their sustainability reporting needs. Previously using CRM software for commercial and industrial energy efficiency reporting as well as third-party ESG reporting using utility data management software, Deniz brings data management expertise to “E” of ESG. Deniz recently achieved her Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) credential and will be utilising the IFRS-driven standardisation of ESG measurement for guiding businesses looking to understand the sustainability of their practises from a financial materiality standpoint. Deniz brings a range of ESG-related services including GRESB, ISS, MSCI, ENERGY STAR award reporting, applying the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) protocol for GHG emissions calculations, data visualisation, as well as assisting clients in complying with third-party ESG reporting requirements.

SLR would like to congratulate Senior Consultant Deniz Whittier on successfully passing the Fundamentals of Sustainability (FSA) Accounting Level I and Level II exams, earning her the FSA Credential through SASB Standards, a part of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation.

Why is this important?
Within the last 2 years the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB, a division of the IFRS) have been developing standards for companies to report their performance to investors in a universally understood and consistent fashion. This standard is being adopted internationally as a consistent process in which companies can measure, define, and compare their ESG reporting.

The FSA credential helps advisors guide businesses towards standardised disclosure on business practises with sustainability implications. We at SLR are now able to say that our team has certification in this standardised practise and can apply it to our clients to better understand the financial impact of their ESG efforts. This new credential can be applied to a broad range of client needs including investment analysis and corporate management.

Barbara Kuryk, EMPA Services Manager remarked, “Forward-looking clients increasingly recognise the importance of understanding financially material sustainability issues and how they link to enterprise value creation. By earning the gold standard FSA credentials, Deniz is exceptionally well positioned to play a key role in expanding SLR’s strategic advisory work in ESG and Sustainability strategy. “

FSA credentials help credential holders to set the standard for professional expertise as it applies to identifying and managing financially material sustainability information. This information can be applied to a broad range of client needs including investment analysis and corporate management.

Funding from Tufts University and SLR Consulting reinforced Deniz’s success in this goal.
