Hardrock Mine: Historical Tailings and Seepage Management Plan
The Hardrock Project is a proposed open pit gold mine in northern Ontario located at the site of two historical mining operations. Two historical tailings deposits are in contact with a local lake and overlie the proposed open pit development. Surficial soil contamination is present in areas across the site and existing infrastructure in the area needs to be relocated to make way for open pit development. The project has made regulatory commitments to relocate a portion of the historical tailings to facilities with proper containment and seepage management.
