Challenge

Aguas Pacífico required the construction and operation of a 1,000 L/s desalination plant, along with associated works such as an electricity transmission line, substations and an aqueduct of approximately 100 km in the Valparaíso Region, Chile.

Solution

SLR provided strategic and environmental advice from the beginning of the project, including:

• Environmental Feasibility Study.
• Preparation of Environmental Impact Studies (EIA) and their modifications.
• Permanent environmental advice to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Execution of measures established in the RCA: relocation of fauna, archaeological characterization, paleontological pits.
• Processing of more than 30 sectoral permits.
• Citizen participation and community relations.

Impact

The project represents a key advance in water security in central Chile, with rigorous environmental management and a participatory approach with communities.
