Biography

Dr. Tecle Rufael is a highly regarded subject matter expert on low-carbon energy technologies and strategy development, with over 20 years of experience developing and managing a multi-million-dollar R&D portfolio of clean energy projects, while engaging diverse stakeholders across functional and geographic teams to move projects and affect relevant technology strategies and policies.

Dr. Rufael is well-informed on broad issues related to the domestic and global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) landscape and related business drivers for the low-carbon energy transition. He has a proven track record of anticipating and identifying research and business opportunities, some of which led to successful partnerships with academia, government, and joint industry projects. He led industry peers to create the Collaboratory to Advance Methane Science (CAMS).

Additionally, Dr. Rufael is recognized as a forward-thinking leader and collaborator, with strong technical and portfolio management skills in low-carbon energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation initiatives; and he is committed to finding solutions to the momentous challenges of climate change and clean energy transition, including approaches based on low-carbon hydrogen, carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS), and methane emissions reduction in the fossil fuel industry.
