19 June 2025 | Client: B2Gold Namibia (Pty) Ltd
B2Gold Namibia (Pty) Ltd (B2Gold), a subsidiary of B2Gold Corporation ― jointly owned by B2Gold Corporation (90%) and EVI Namibia (10%), is undertaking an amendment of the EIA for the Otjikoto Gold Mine (OGM).B2Gold was granted a Mining Licence (ML 169) in December 2012 after the Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) was issued in August 2012 for the OGM. Mining operations commenced in 2015 whereafter additional upgrades and improvements were introduced. The OGM is located in the north-central part of Namibia, approximately 70 km north-east of Otjiwarongo and 50 km south-west of Otavi - within the Otjozondjupa region.
As part of exploration activities, B2Gold has discovered a potential viable resource, known as the Antelope deposit, located within the existing ML boundary. In this regard, B2Gold intends to develop additional infrastructure within the ML footprint to mine the newly discovered resource using underground mining methods to extract ore (hereafter referred to as the proposed Project). The proposed Project requires an amended ECC to include surface infrastructure.
SLR Environmental Consulting (Namibia) (Pty) Ltd (SLR), an independent firm of Environmental Assessment Practitioners, has been appointed by B2Gold to manage the ECC amendment processes.
