Ongoing methane technical consulting support

Challenge

The ONE Future Coalition includes more than 50 companies across the natural gas production, gathering and boosting, processing, transmission, storage, and distribution segments. The coalition sought a technical consultant to support its members in their collaborative efforts to reduce methane emission intensity across the natural gas value chain.

ONE Future prepares an annual methane intensity report for its member companies. To prepare this report, which requires the development of supporting technical materials, data collection, and strategic services, the coalition engages the assistance of an external technical consultant.

Solution

SLR is considered best-in-class for its technical and management expertise in methane emissions in the oil and gas industry. Its senior-level experts have led or participated in major published US field measurement and characterization studies and development of protocols and best practices in methane emissions from the oil & gas industry since the early 1990s.

SLR provided ongoing technical consulting support for ONE Future member companies by compiling methane intensity inventories, aggregating results at the segment level, updating and preparing the annual methane intensity protocols and reports, and offering technical expertise on methane emission reduction best practices.

Impact

Over the five years that SLR supported the ONE Future Coalition, the team led and facilitated monthly technical workgroup meetings, updated the methane intensity protocol annually, collected and analyzed member company emissions data, and prepared the annual methane intensity report. Additionally, SLR developed numerous technical materials, documents, and strategic services to support the coalition and its members.
