We would like to congratulate the Namibia Power Corporation (Pty) Ltd (NamPower) on the inauguration of its Omburu 20 MW PV Power Station, which took place on Friday 24 June. This power station is NamPower's first fully owned photovoltaic plant. The plant occupies an area of approximately 42ha and is able to provide 18,000 households with renewable energy.

SLR is proud to have been part of the very important project, by conducting the hydrogeological and geotechnical assessment studies. SLR was furthermore responsible for project management around managing the topographical, geotechnical, de-bushing and drilling contractors for the initial assessment of the site, in order to characterise the nature and distributions of the geotechnical and geohydrological properties of the project site. This work was vital to permit for well informed design, construction and operation of the Omburu PV Power Plant.

Please watch this video summary of the project, produced by NamPower.
