Environmental Impact & Strategic Environmental Assessments

SLR provides a diverse range of services to assist clients who need to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in support of a specific development or a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of a larger scale concept or planning policy. The level of support SLR can offer ranges from individual technical sections through to complete management of the SEA / EIA and associated planning process.

We have a wide range of technical specialists in house to draw upon to contribute to and collaborate on an EIA; each discipline is highly experienced at producing chapters for inclusion into an Environmental Statement.

Key EIA services include:

  • Informal project screening and/or scoping at project feasibility stage
  • Environmental base line studies and condition assessments
  • Undertaking formal EIA screening and/or scoping
  • Managing the formal EIA process and preparation of ES documentation:
    • Co-ordination of in-house and/or external teams (or combinations) with or without a Planning consultancy element (i.e. working with external planners)
    • Liaison with client project teams
    • Consultation with regulators and stakeholders
    • EIA Project management
    • ES editorial/review role
  • Preparation of Environmental Supporting Statements (where formal EIA not required) 
  • Review of ESs produced by other organisations (for public authorities, as third party support, or for due diligence projects)

In addition to traditional paper copies, SLR can provide the complete Environmental Statement in electronic format on CD/DVD, using a menu interface to navigate to text, drawings, appendices or even Virtual Reality Models.
