Project Objectives:

SLR Consulting acted as geotechnical and hydrogeological sub-consultant for the initial planning and preliminary design of a proposed new €180m 26km dual carriageway from Hughes Bridge in Sligo Town to the county boundary with Leitrim.

Our Role:

Our brief includes: 

• scoping and preparation of Contract Documentation for the preliminary ground investigation
• technical supervision and contractual administration of the preliminary ground investigation (contract value €610,000)
• preparation of geotechnical interpretative reports for route mainline, including geotechnical cross-sections. 
• provision of geotechnical advice in respect of 22 No. bridge structures,
• advising on engineering design requirements and road construction impacts in karst aquifer and low-lying peat environments
• advising on strategies for construction management of large volume of excavated peat waste
• undertaking baseline studies and preparing impact assessments for the Soils and Geology and Hydrogeology chapters of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
