Our Role:

SLR has been providing environmental consulting services to a major U.S. airline since 2003.  Permitting, compliance, and site restoration services have been conducted at a number of airport locations in the western United States and Alaska.  In 2008, the airline selected SLR to assist them in broader environmental programs, including carbon management and the preparation of materials to be used on their website for environmental reporting.  SLR calculated the annual total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of their operations and the operations of a subsidiary regional U.S> airline for the period of 2004 through 2008.  The emissions inventory included direct fuel emissions from aircraft, ground support equipment, other company vehicles, and from facility heating, and indirect emissions from electricity usage.  The calculated GHG emissions were compared to productivity metrics to account for changes in air travel demand and operational capacity.  The primary emission sources and the effectiveness of previous emission reduction efforts were evaluated.  SLR also evaluated all of the airline's environmental programs and prepared text about those programs, as well as about the GHG emissions inventory, for their website and for a Corporate Environmental Responsibility Report.
