Project Objectives:
Detailed air quality modelling assessment relating to installation of a 1MWe spark ignition engine and associated flare at a landfill site in South Africa.
Our Role:
The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol operates on the premise that a reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in one country benefits all countries. To this end, landfill gas utilisation provides the potential opportunity to reduce GHG emissions in South Africa, as well as generate electricity. The project utilised detailed dispersion modelling to quantify the impact of combustion emissions upon local air quality.
